Stampede ECS-50- the rumour that just won't go away

I know we've gone on about this previously, and it's even been put to bed a few times by "official sources", but we received these photos from a reader who visited a Target in Virginia and saw these.

While I know some of the earlier Stampedes were branded "ECS-50", it seems odd that Nerf would use pics of them for their point of sale promotions so long after their release (and the name was corrected)

Even more so, why they'd fit it out with a drum (does look more like the Raider drum than the mockups of the 50 round "ballz" drum we featured) rather than the standard 18 round clip.

Just a lil weird eh? Thanks to Tami for the pics!

  1. The breech flange looks like the ballz, with the three boxy nocks instead of the raider's & AT's immediate roundness. plus I don't know of any other mags, Nerf or not, which have any sizable flat areas...

  2. Holy shit! You didn't die!
    Welcome back.
Nerf is a vile temptress that takes pleasure in teasing us so.

  6. marketing department stuff up maybe? perhaps someone not in the loop with nerf blasters just grabbed a picture of a stampede to work with and instead of getting a production model pic, used concept art instead? Who knows. in any case, the 50 dart drum either is eventually going to appear or came very close to it then got axed (probably due to someone at the office pointing out that it resembles balls)

  7. You and your ball talk encouraged me to pick up my old reactor. The nostalgia effect kicks in now.

  9. I saw this in Target a few days ago.

  10. I also saw the 40 and 20 disk packs when I went to target. See them in the corner of the first picture?

  11. the pic is definitely not the 35 round drum. It has an incline instead having the drum part right under where the clip sticks in. so yeah, go stick a regular 35 round drum in a stampede if you want to see the difference for yourself, but i see it. kinda obvious to me lol.

  12. Honestly the biggest, baddest Nerf gun really should have a nice pair. Big balls. BETA MAG style.

  13. Hmmmm... In the first picture, I also spy a Vortex 40-disc ammo pack. ToysRUs has them, but I didn't know Target did. And it doesn't show up on their website, either... That's new, I think!

  14. In addition, further to the left in that same photo, it appears that the separately-sold 18-drums have made their first photodocumented appearance! Good... I needed a few of those... or more than a few... :P

  15. That same Target I went to also had three Rayvens.

  16. thats the 50 round drum.. with more blasers going flywheel and auto i think nerf might do some thing eventualy.. like make a new ammo size that is smaller for example. beacuse the clips just are not cutting it.....

Mabye some kinda fomb that is compressed and expands at the top of the clip to moisture lol.. that would be rad.

  17. Hey Taggers! do you think you could add my site to your list of other tagger sites? its http://greatnerfreviews.webs.com. I use a little bit of your pictures, but thats only for the blasters that I do not personally own, or the ones that have not been released yet. I also believe in giving credit where credit is due. Thanks!

  19. hmmm... Just noticed that walmart.com is calling it the ECS-50 as well. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nerf-N-Strike-ECS-50-Stampede-Bandolier-Kit-Bundle/15267907#ProductDetail

But the bundle includes the normal 18 dart clips, not the 50 drum.....curious.

  20. Funny that Target also clearances all the Stampede stock out.

  24. Anonymous 12,

You can make a vulcan ebf 50 by just joining 2 belts together

That trick doesn't work on the new style belts.

  25. Did anyone notice the UPC code on the drum? There is a different one on the deploy as well. Took a photo will upload later.

  26. clips are overall easier to carry then multiple drum systems, but this would change everything..........

  27. We got it! Everyone just forget about the "STAMPEDE ECS-50". We all know about it so freaking DROP IT. These rumors have been going on for God knows how long so lets just let it be!

  28. I was thinking the same thing as Skurj, it looks like the Beta mags for AR-15. Actually, the Beta mags look more like balls than the Nerf one.

  29. Anon, chill out, man. It's an interesting picture he was sharing with us depicting the Stampede ECS-50. You don't have to get so angry over some Nerf blaster rumors. Also, have you ever seen the Nerfing community just "drop" something. Until this blaster is released, you're not going to see anyone let it go, so just... chill. It's Nerf for god's sake! have fun with it.
