Rumours: Nerf Vortex Nitron with shield

In what looks like a Super Soaker throwback, we got sent this rather interesting image of a Nerf Vortex Nitron with a shield instead of the scope. The photo of the box art is also a different dude, so I'm curious to know if this is either a new updated version (which makes no sense cos the Nitron scope was one of the big selling points of the blaster) or a pre release concept version? Looking into it, but don't know a whole lot- that's the joy of anonymous tips!:D

  1. The whole idea of having a shield makes me think of it as an an alter ego to the stampede. (not that it didn't seem that way before)

  2. yeah the nitron scope looks awesome (give it a little paint and a similar longstrike and it could resemble the sniper rifle from Halo). but it's practicality is completely moot, the LED's are too bright even for daytime fun, and it doesn't work period on a vortex weapon because of disc drift. That shield is not only see-through, but decently sized, and doesn't wrap around the blaster like any previous guards. I see more potential for that than the scope. not enough to get another nitron, but better for those adding one to their collection... (long rant is long)

  3. Here's hoping this is real. I agree that the shield pictured here not wrapping around the blaster frame is a solid benefit, and one I've been hoping for. This also gives me an excuse to grab another nitron and finally get ahold of another 20 disc clip

  5. I don't think so. I'm probably wrong, but look closely. The arrangement of the stuff on the box is different, and I think the wrinkles on their shirts are the same too. It could be official, but I think it isn't. Though I really hope Nerf proves me wrong, I think this is a good idea.

  6. Like with all shields, they're useless. It's like wrapping yourself in cardboard boxes and call it power armor.

    Real men-children fight without shields.

  8. C'mon Hasbro, do those things actually sell guns? I would be willing to pay $2 less and lose the shield from the 'pede bundle... same here.

  9. A nitron sight, with that shield integrated with it would be great, but on its own, bleagh.
